
Synge Street C.B.S. was founded in 1864. It continues to be famous for its past pupils in all areas of life. We take pride in the thousands of boys who have established the wonderful tradition of our school and have handed it on to the present generation. Each pupil is heir to that legacy of service, achievement, character and true Christian living.
St Kevin's building has recently been refurbished and, together with seven normal classrooms, now contains the following special subject rooms, each fully provided with its own appropriate teaching equipment: two Art Rooms, a Music Room, a Chemistry Laboratory, a Language Room, an Electronics Room and a new Computer Room with 10 IBM compatible computers and three Apple II computers.
St Paul's building, also recently extended, contains two Science Rooms, an extensive well-stocked Library, a Geography Room, a Careers Guidance Department, a Gymnasium cum Assembly Hall, a Film Projection Room, a new Oratory, a Religion Teaching Resource Room, a School Canteen as well as sixteen normal classrooms.
The school's extensive playing fields at Dolphin Park with pavillion and changing facilities are within easy reach.

The committee has succeeded in making a valuable contribution to school life in areas such as Careers Seminars, Mock Interviews, School Swimming Galas, Catering for school events. They have been directly responsible for publishing a Newsletter to keep parents informed about the school.
The past pupils union is in existence since 1933. To the present day they have continued to support many ventures on behalf of the school, including - Interviews, Work Placement and Funds for various activities.
The school has its own chaplain who celebrates Mass each day in the oratory. This Mass is attended voluntarily. The Chaplain is available for Class Masses, Confessions, Private Interviews etc.
These include Gaelic Football, Soccer (Leinster Branch competing at all levels), Hurling, Drama, Educational Tours, both in Ireland and abroad, Photography Club, Swimming Galas, Athletics, Debating Societies in Irish and English, Saint Vincent de Paul, Pioneer Council, which organises the Leinster Schools Quiz competition.
In 1987 a limited entry repeat Leaving Certificate was introduced. This class has a maximum of 25 students (boys and girls). The success rate of these groups has been remarkably high with almost all Leaving Certificate subjects on offer. Applicants may apply through the office shortly after Leaving Certificate results are published.
The school is under the Department's Education Scheme. Consequently no school fees as such are charged. A small charge however is made to cover the printing and posting of school reports. There is also a voluntary Covenanting Scheme operated by the school's Trust Fund Committee, to help pay off the large debt incurred in connection with the recent building programme.
