We initiated our Repeat Leaving Certificate Programme in September 1989 because we were convinced that many Leaving Certificate students, regardless of their "Points" acquisition, were not yet ready to benefit optimally from Third Level Education. Hence, from the beginning, we have perceived this Programme as a positive option in career planning.
We expect that our Repeat Leaving Certificate students will enhance their "points". Our programme, however, offers much more. It is structured and designed to prepare participants for success at Third Level and to enable each student to develop a personal, realistic career plan.

An experienced Guidance Counsellor assists the students to choose the best combination of subjects, taking into account the student's predicted career needs.
Each student takes six subjects and some, for whom this is suitable,
take seven. Since there is a range of seventeen subject, it is not surprising
that our classes are small in size, many of them in single figures.
Each student is scheduled for a weekly Lifeskills class. Study-skills, time management, schedule planning, C.V. preparation, interview skills and examination techniques are taught and learned. Students are enabled to experience and process decision-making and problem-solving. They undertake exercises in self-evaluation and self-awareness and they develop communication and relationship skills.
Career research and application to Third Level Colleges (U.K. as well
as Irish) are guided and monitored on an individual basis.
We actively promote parent-student-teacher co-operation. We believe
that this tripartite approach enhances student achievement.
Our Repeat Leaving Certificate students are welcomed and encouraged to participate in all College activities.
