BUSINESS STUDIES

This course is primarily intended to assist/improve the student's abilities to understand and make financial arrangements and commercial decisions. It is also designed to enable students to make more informed choices for Leaving Certificate courses and will cover some Leaving Certificate material.

Topics covered will include:

  • Insurance
  • Borrowing
  • Employer/Employee Legislation
  • Taxation
  • Budgets
  • Accounting
  • Business Organisation
  • European Studies .
    •  Mini-company
    Students will receive written homework every second week to compliment the theory thought in class.Assessment will be an evaluation sheet at the end of the mini-company module.

    Financial life skills
    Students will receive regular homework on the topics covered in class.
    Students will have a written exam at the end of the term.
    Project work and visits to commercial institutions will also be arranged.
