Ardscoil LA Salle continues in the Lasallian tradition handed down by St Jean-Baptiste de la Salle. The school provides a Christian education and every effort is made to develop the spiritual well-being of the student. School retreats, community work, liturgical services, visiting speakers and charity work are an integral part of this education.
Ardscoil La Salle has forged links with schools all
over Europe by way of multilateral exchanges held
each year With its twin Institut St-Joeseph, Ciney
Belgium. The project entitled Eurodyssée brings
together students of all the member states of the EU.
It is a valuable event from an educational point of'
view, introducing students to foreign travel and to
the variety of culture and language that exists in
mainland Europe.
Ardscoil La Salle has also operated
two Leargas-funded exchanges. Léargas is the
EU funded agency for the promotion of
language-learning.
It is a duty of the school to provide a safe
environment for pupils. Accordingly we have a
carefully thought-out Code of Behaviour. This code
emphasises respect for oneself, for others and for
property. Students' adherence to the code is
monitored by Teachers, Tutors, Year-heads,
Vice-Principal and Principal.
Our outdoor and indoor activities include Hurling,
Gaelic Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball,
Badminton, Indoor Football, Orienteering and Hill
Walking. other activities include Debating, Drama,
Quiz Nights, Gaisce (The President's Award
Scheme) and fundraising for charities such
as Concern.
Our Merit Awards Scheme gives recognition
to students who have shown commitment or ability
above the norm. Awards are presented in various
fields of endeavour including academic achievement,
sporting achievement, charity work, community
involvement and personal achievement.
