This hrochure offers an insight into the secondary education enjoyed hy the students of Ardscoil La Salle, Raheny. Many changes have occurred in education in recent years. These changes, ref]ecting the innovations in everyday life, have necessitated the introduction of a greater range of subjects for our students.
Changes likewise have come ahout in management structures. Secondary education is now more inclusive and more democratic.

only a matter of academic achievement hut also a

Ardscoil La Salle has taken account of these changes by keeping abreast of modern needs. It prides itself on effectively fulfilling the basic tenets of any school brief, i.e., to educate students towards a full, contented and productive adulthood.

Co-education takes account of the movement
in society towards integration and equality of
opportunity. In the context of the school this
means that all students, girls and boys have the
opportunity to avail of tuition in all subject areas.
Furthermore, it offers them that opportunity
in a natural, healthy environment and facilitates
the attainment of high academic standards
by both sexes.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Ardscoil La Salle was founded in 1968 by the De La
Salle Brothers. Originally an all-boys school, it
became co-educational in 1978, following initiatives
by the Department of Education. At this point the
Marist Sisters joined the staff.
MANAGEMENT
Ardscoil La Salle is a voluntary secondary school,
funded hy the Department of Education. A Board of
Management oversees the administration of the
school. This comprises representatives of parents, of
teachers and of the trustees, the De La Salle
Brothers. Daily management of the school is the
responsibility of the Principal who is also secretary
to the Board of Management.
