As a co-educational school catering for some 600 pupils, about half of whom are boarders, The King's Hospital attracts students from all over Ireland as well as from overseas, thereby adding to the schools cosmopolitan appeal.
Entering the school at 12 years of age and leaving by 18 the students benefit from a comprehensive and progressive curriculum.
The school building itself is set on a 70-acre site along the banks of the River Liffey in a suburban setting close to Dublin city.
Most students pursue a six year course on entering the school, leading first to the Junior Certificate Examination, followed by Transition Year and finishing with the Leaving Certificate Examination .
Streaming students is not our policy at The King's Hospital. Instead, forms are divided in alphabetical order, an approach which works well.
The high level of academic achievements is a reflection of the pupils' response to the encouragement of staff and parents.
